Anza Borrego State Park
Hiking, camping, time travel, its all possible at Anza Borrego State Park. Anza Borrego is as romantic as it is rugged, its history marked by trails over 45,000 acres of beautifully preserved land. Anza Borrego is California’s largest state park, a hiker’s dream. The trails can be anywhere from .6 to 12 miles round trip. This is a great place to bring the family for a weekend of camping and exploring the awesome desert. Just keep in mind dogs aren’t allowed on hiking trails and must be supervised and on a leash at all times. The visitor’s center offers Naturalists’ Talks, Nature Walks and Guided Hikes, as well as services for groups. While you’re out exploring there’s lots to keep a look out for like the Black-tailed Jackrabbit, Roadrunners and the majestic Peninsular Bighorn Sheep. Keep in mind the trails you follow were first traveled by the native tribes of the land, like a trip through time. But if you’re addicted to your social networks, don’t worry, there’s wi-fi and phone service within 150ft of the visitor’s center. One of the state park’s most popular attractions is the blooming of the wild flowers. However, its hard to predict when it will happen it depends on weather and timing, otherwise known as nature. No doubt there are still lots of things to see and do even if the flowers don’t agree with your prediction, so don’t miss out if you love nature!
