Listing Details: The Carlsbad-Oceanside Art League (COAL) was formed nearly 60 years ago by a small group of emerging and established artists whose goal was to promote art education and cultural appreciation of fine art in the community. Geared toward serving public rather than private interest, COAL is supported by public demonstrations, student scholarships, outdoor displays, art exhibitions, art classes, workshops, cultural tours and a main gallery. Obtaining membership is fairly easy: you must be 17 years of age and complete the new member application. Currently COAL has approximately 250 members. Membership definitely has its benefits: With monthly shows of their members’ work and also the Art on the Ocean event, where artists can display their works on the lawns of nearby Carlsbad Inn. COAL is a wonderful asset to both the artist and the community.
