Bates Nut Farm
Open year round, Bates Nut Farm is a fantastic family retreat into the heart of Northern San Diego. Sprawling over 100 acres in Valley Center, just outside of Escondido, the farm is home to plenty of events and activities. Visitors are invited to take a historical tour of the farm, run through the corn maze, or check out their in-house petting zoo. Arguably, the best time to visit is during the Halloween season. During this time, their fields are stocked with bright orange pumpkins of all sizes just begging to be carved. Families can even reserve a “pumpkin package” which includes a pumpkin, a hayride, tickets to several farm activities, and education on how a pumpkin is grown. Bates Nut Farm has fun activities and events for the whole family all year long. If nothing else, stop in and grab a couple handfulls of their signature dried fruits, roasted nuts, or home made chocolates. Once you get a taste of all of the homemade goodies, you can bet you’ll be back as soon as you hit the bottom of the bag.
